Chris McLean

Chris McLean (Christian Potenza) is the 25-year-old host of the Total Drama series. According to the contestants, he has had a career in hosting reality television, and is known to have acted in at least one film (as the main character in a badminton-themed zombie movie). Nearly all of the budget allotted to Total Drama Island and its successors are allocated to his pay, though he also states that he takes on many other crew responsibilities (including writer and executive producer); as a result, the show employs many unpaid interns, most of which he claims are seriously injured or killed during production. He cares very little for the contestants' safety or well-being, except when his own livelihood would suffer as a result; in return, the contestants grow to dislike Chris, staying on with the competition for the prize money. He is the series' stereotypical "pretty boy", and his appearance and mannerisms are a homage to Survivor host Jeff Probst. He is often protective of his high-society lifestyle, blatantly bending the rules of the show when things don't go his way; he even goes as far as to hire Owen as a ringer to stir up trouble in Total Drama Action.
