Ozai

Ozai is the father of Zuko and Azula, younger brother of Iroh, and the main antagonist of the series. Although serving as the primary antagonist for the series, he primarily played a behind-the-scenes role during the first two seasons. His face was not shown until the first episode of Book 3. He is an extremely powerful firebender — one able to hold his own even against an Avatar fighting with its previous incarnation's skills. In Sozin's Comet: the Final Battle he renames himself the Phoenix King, ruler of the world, and appoints Azula to watch over the Fire Nation. Due to his corruption and war mongering, Aang strips him of his firebending abilities and removes him from power. Ozai is depicted to be a cruel leader, and is described as a heartless father by his son Zuko, having burned his face and banished him when he was only a teenager. He even banished his own wife, though admitted later that he felt banishment was too light a punishment. He, along with his daughter, has a lust for power. He favors his daughter over Zuko, seeing her as a firebending prodigy.
